Let’s Work Together!
Join me in creating a brighter future for our district. Together, we can ensure every student receives the best possible education and opportunities to succeed.
Why I’m Running for School Board:
As a mother, volunteer, and community member, I’ve seen firsthand our district's incredible potential. My goal is to represent the needs and voices of our families while advocating for initiatives that will make our schools a place where every child can flourish.
About me:
I’m Mexi Shriver, a dedicated member of the District 133 community for over 14 years. As a parent of four, I have firsthand experience navigating the challenges and opportunities within our school system. My two eldest daughters graduated from our district schools—one is now attending Purdue University while serving in the United States Air Force Air National Guard, and the other, a Hononegah High School senior, has recently enlisted in the ANG with plans to attend college in Indiana. My youngest two children are currently thriving at Prairie Hill School.
With children ranging in age from 6 to 20, I deeply understand the challenges families face at every stage of the educational journey. From early learning foundations to preparing for higher education and military service, I have witnessed the evolving needs of students, parents, and educators in our district.
Beyond being an engaged parent, my background as a military spouse and pilot’s wife has strengthened my adaptability, leadership, and problem-solving skills. I’ve been actively involved in coaching youth soccer, volunteering at school events, and supporting church initiatives. Managing a dynamic household while remaining committed to our schools has given me a comprehensive perspective on the values and challenges within our education system.
I am passionate about ensuring a strong educational foundation for all students in our district and believe that collaboration between parents, educators, and the community is key to their success.
Professionally, I've served as a medical assistant, correctional officer, and private investigator, developing strong communication, problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail. These roles have enriched my ability to address challenges creatively.
I am committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere in our schools. I aim to nurture culturally aware and empathetic future citizens. I bring a unique blend of personal insight and professional experience to the District 133 School Board, advocating for the success and well-being of all students.
